Woodblock print making is a style of relief printing where artists use carved wooden blocks and ink to press designs onto textiles or paper. Originating in China and mastered by the Japanese, woodblock print making remains a timeless and beautiful craft. What happens in the class? This comprehensive experience takes you through the whole process of creating your very own woodblock print. Guided by Olivia, you start by developing a woodblock design. Then you will carve and engrave your woodblock using chisels and carving knives. When your carved woodblock is complete, Olivia will show you how to ‘ink it up’ and create a series of printed pieces including a final print on art paper.
