2 Day Bowl Carving and Finishing with Carol Russell Ever wanted to carve and finish a wooden bowl? Then check out this Two-Day Bowl Carving and Finishing workshop led by Carol Russell. In this workshop participants carve a beautiful and useful wooden bowl using only hand tools and hand finishing techniques. What makes this class extra special is the emphasis on surface texturing and finishing using milk paint and wood charring techniques. This workshop allows you to play not only with form, but also with with texture and colour to create your own original piece. What happens in the workshop? This creative experience takes you through the whole process of creating your very own wooden bowl from start to finish. Carol will take you through a series of processes including: • Design • Timber selection • Tool choice & maintenance • Carving techniques including texturing • Traditional finish polishing • Creative finishing using milk paint and charring • Tool maintenance and sharpening By the end of this workshop, you will not only have created your very own carved bowl, yet also developed several key skills that you can take forward on your craft journey. How long is the class? Bowl carving is a two-day class held over the weekend of Saturday & Sunday July 20 & 21. Each day starts at 9.00am and concludes at 4.00pm. Places in the class are strictly limited so you are assured to receive all the support you may need. Refreshments are provided, please bring your own lunch. Do I need tools or equipment? All tools, materials and templates are supplied. Wood Play Studio recommends all participants wear sturdy shoes and clothes suitable for woodworking. Participants in this class must be 18 years of age and well enough to stand for several hours at a time lifting 2kg with each arm.
