What happens in the workshop?
 
This beginner's workshop takes you through the whole process of creating your very own wooden spoon. Guided by Eli, you will start with a wooden spoon blank and then working with hand tools including a knife, hook knife and gouges, you will learn how to carve an eating spoon chip by chip. You can work at your own pace throughout the workshop so there will be plenty of time to ask questions and learn the basics of greenwood spoon carving. By the end of this workshop, you will have your own hand-carved spoon ready to take away and use at home!
 
How long is the workshop?
 
Greenwood spoon carving with Eli Beke starts at 8.00am Saturday September 21 and concludes at 12noon, a total of 4 hours. There is a maximum of 8 people in the workshop so you are assured to receive all the support you may need. Refreshments are provided.
 
Do I need tools or equipment?
 
All tools and materials are supplied. Wood Play Studio recommends all participants wear sturdy shoes and clothes suitable for woodworking. Participants in this workshop must be 18 years of age and well enough to stand for several hours at a time lifting 2kg with each arm.
